A separate Marina del Rey waterfront project would replace aging docks at Parcel 77 with a modernized facility serving recreational users. Los Angeles County describes the project as being in plan check and anticipates construction beginning in late 2027, subject to further approvals.
County plans call for new dock components, piles, gangways, boating access areas, improved lighting, utilities, accessibility features and facilities intended to support kayaks, rowboats, sailing and other small vessels. This is distinct from the ongoing public boat launch ramp improvements at Fiji Way and the Lot 4 parking structure.
Because the project is still in its preconstruction stage, paddlers should not assume the new facility is available today. Review the county development page for updated plans and construction notices, and use current harbor maps when choosing where to launch.
