MARINA DEL REY, California — The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors says the Marina del Rey Harbor Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 11, 2026, has been canceled. The notice appears on the department’s official Harbor Commission page, reviewed October 30.
The commission ordinarily meets on the second Wednesday of each month, but the department cautions that individual meetings may take place on other dates. Residents with business before the commission should consult the department calendar and published notices rather than assume that the next meeting will follow the usual schedule.
What the Harbor Commission does
According to the county, the Marina del Rey Harbor Commission makes recommendations to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on matters involving the harbor’s management and operation. It is an advisory body, not a separate Marina del Rey city council. Marina del Rey is an unincorporated community; the County of Los Angeles owns the marina land and its Department of Beaches and Harbors manages county interests, including ground leases and public facilities.
The department’s divisions overview identifies planning functions involving the Local Coastal Program, seawall monitoring, development design review, certain events and transportation issues. These responsibilities make commission records relevant not only to boat owners but also to residents, businesses and people who use the waterfront.
Where the commission normally meets
The official commission page identifies the Burton W. Chace Park Community Room, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey, CA 90292, as its meeting place. It also provides online attendance instructions and calendar information. The published notice is specific to the November 11 meeting; it does not, by itself, announce a replacement date or explain why that particular session was canceled.
For boat owners and waterfront visitors
Questions about boat slips and harbor operations should be directed to the proper agency or individual marina operator. The department states that Marina del Rey has more than 4,600 slips across 23 marinas. Anchorage managers, rather than the Harbor Commission, handle many individual leasing and availability questions. For harbor rules or marine-law enforcement, the county identifies the Sheriff’s Department Harbor Master at (310) 482-6000.
Residents can review separate official information for harbor navigation and rules, guest docks and public marina facilities. Meeting agendas should not be confused with operational notices or boat-slip reservations.
